O Government estimates that revenue from tobacco and alcohol taxes will rise by around EUR 166 million in 2027 compared to 2026, totaling EUR 2,256 million, according to the budget proposal.
In the report accompanying the proposal from the State Budget for 2027 (OE2027), it is estimated that tobacco consumption tax will amount to EUR 1.864 million next year, plus EUR 139 million (8.1%) than estimated for the year 2026 (EUR 1,725 million).
Alcohol, alcoholic beverages and added sugar or sweetener drinks (IABA) should pay EUR 392 million, plus EUR 27 million (7.5%) than estimated for 2026 (EUR 365 million).
In both the tobacco tax and the IABA, the figure now estimated for the year 2026 is above the budget in the 2026 budget proposal presented a year ago.
In the same sense, the growth of the value raised with these taxes is above the growth that was estimated from 2025 to 2026.
