O french government will provide three thousand teachers in the next 24 hours to fill vacancies available in high schools whose situations are considered most urgent, announced today.
In a TV interview TF1, Education Minister Edouard Geffray promised to place these teachers in 114 “red” and 400 “orange” high schools.
The minister also announced that “it will authorize the hiring of additional teachers” whenever necessary, as “it will come into force between tomorrow [Friday] and Tuesday”.
The government hopes that this plan will somehow calm students whose protests have closed hundreds of high schools, establishments attended by students in the last three years of secondary education.
The student unions require an integral reform, from the reduction of the classes to the reformulation of the platform for access to higher education (Parcoursup), criticized due to the difficulty of teachers to analyze all applications for admission.
According to French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, 66,000 contributions have already been received by students on a digital platform called Agora.
“The government will present amendments to the finance bill proposal for 2027 in order to translate some proposals from secondary school students into concrete measures,” he wrote on social network X.
