A strike “is affecting public service in several delegations”, in Porto, “the delegation of Avenida de França is closed” and in “Lisbon, the delegation of the Angels works with partial care”, while in Odivelas there is no service, exemplified the STM, in a statement sent to Lusa.
In some places, only “cultural mediators” appeared, who have precarious contracts and “more south in Faro, the services closed”.
“ Until lunchtime, the STM estimates membership of about 50%”m says the union, contrary to the value of 11.31% advanced by AIMA, in an accounting made at 12:00.
In the statement, the president of the STM, Manuela Niza Ribeiro, denounced an “intimidatory climate” in AIMA, which “conditions the exercise of labor and union rights and leads some workers to fear reprisals for joining the strike”.
Among the claims, the union highlights the “creation of a career of its own for Migration Technicians, the attribution of a supplement equivalent to that of GNR and PSP, the end of the precariousness of the Cultural Mediators and clear limits to the transfer of permanent tasks to the CLAIM” (Local Immigration Support Centres).
In addition, the union complains of a lack of dialogue and admits to asking for a guardianship meeting: “We asked for a meeting: until today, total silence”
AIMA has a different version of the numbers and indicates that “it registered a strike membership of 11,31%, corresponding to 94 workers, in a total universe of 831 workers”.
According to the agency, “the citizens who had service scheduled for today at the Stores that are closed will be informed in due time, through the email address associated with their schedule, of the new date of service, and no additional initiative is needed from you.”.
