Nthe monthly list of drugs with suspended export are also 163 presentations of quetiapine, antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression due to problems in supply.
According to Infarmed, the constraints on the supply of medicinal products with this substance, which should remain until the end of the year, are related to a suspension of the manufacture imposed by microbial contamination in the production found in a manufacturer in Greece, which supplies most of the Marketing Authorisation Holders in Portugal.
The problem also affects other European Union countries.
The list of the National Medicines and Health Products Authority (Infarmed), which came into force today on Tuesday, contains drugs whose export is temporarily suspended, to ensure the supply of the national market and applies to all stakeholders in the commercial circuit, including manufacturers.
This list is defined every month and includes cracking drugs in the previous month whose impact has been considered medium or high, as well as others that are being supplied under the Exceptional Use Authorisation (EUA).
The Infarmed daily monitors information on the absences, ruptures and cessations of marketing, to identify and avoid critical situations that may affect the availability of medicines.
The national authority of the medicinal product is part of the European network of contact points of the competent national authorities, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Commission which has been used since April 2019 to share information on supply disruptions and availability issues of medicinal products authorised in the European Union.
