The Israeli army confirmed today that it attempted to kill Hamas' interim political leader in Gaza, Ali Ahmed al-Amudi, in an attack that killed five people.

“ O israeli army and Israel Security Agency launched an attack with the intention of eliminating terrorist Ali Ahmed al-Amudi,” he said, in a message released on social networks.
The attack in question targeted the Al Asala building in the capital of Gaza. Five people died following this attack.
The army said that al-Amudi was “directly involved in terrorist activities and the reconstruction of the organization to resume the war.”.
During the attack, Hamas' interim political leader in Gaza was in an apartment used by the organization.
Ali Ahmed al-Amudi is considered to be the main authority in Gaza, but his position within Hamas is not yet official, since he disputes against Nizar Awadallah.
