Joe Manganiello, Sofía Vergara’s ex-husband, surprised everything and everyone with the recent publication he made on his Instagram page, where he showed shocking images of his sudden weight loss, of when he suffered from a severe and almost fatal autoimmune disease, as he described in his memoir book, “Bloodlines”.
The 49-year-old actor explained that the photographs he now published on Instagram were captured at the time he was in the hospital during his seven-year fight against the disease.
“ In the days following the amputation of my large intestine, my weight began to drop dramatically. I ended up losing a total of 27 kilos during the two weeks after surgery. If you enlarge the image, you can see the top of my first ostomy bag standing out over the sheets”, he started by saying in the legend of the publication, referring to the first photograph.

“ A photograph of my abdomen after reconnection/removal surgery, or anastomosis, in which my ostomy bag was removed and what was left of my digestive tract was reconnected”, he explained when referring to the second photograph.

Remember that Joe Manganiello had already talked about his condition with People. The symptoms began with a very large abdominal pain that prevented him from walking, along with fever, rashes, headaches and fatigue. He also had rectal bleeding.
To People he also confessed that the illness contributed to the end of his seven-year marriage to 54-year-old actress Sofía Vergara. “I was getting sicker and sicker.”

In a video he previously published on his Instagram page, where he spoke about the memoir, the actor explained that he was in medical treatment for years, having consulted “the best doctors in the world”, but never had an explanation for the cause of the disease.
He was subjected to “very serious operations and procedures” that “mutilated parts of his body”, and which sometimes became unable to stand or walk.
