O lithuania's Prime Minister today held Russia responsible for a fire attempt against a Lithuanian company housing Starlink's satellite communications equipment.
The incident occurred early on Sunday about 2 a.m. locals (Saturday 23h00 in Lisbon), and flammable liquids were found at the company's premises, which hosts satellite antennas and a control unit, Mindaugas Sinkeviius explained, in statements to public television LRT.
According to the head of the government, the company has “nine satellite antennas to secure the Starlink link, which naturally supports and helps Ukraine”.
The location of the company was not publicly disclosed.
“ This was clearly an attempt at sabotage or diversion, as we have seen similar actions repeated throughout Europe. It is clear that (...) this is part of Russia’s hybrid war, which involves acts of sabotage,” said Mindaugas Sinkeviius.
“ We will know more about who gave the order, how it happened and who transmitted it. It is likely that the moral author has already been identified at the outset: it is the Russian part”, he added.
In September, a Starlink satellite station located in central Poland was set on fire, with Warsaw claiming to be a deliberate “act of sabotage”.
In Bulgaria, an inquiry is under way, according to Prime Minister Rumen Radev, of an opposition Member reporting telecommunications antennas linked to the burning Starlink satellite network.
The Ukrainian army depends on Starlink communications in the fight against the Russian invasion.
Washington will have reduced at the beginning of the month the bandwidth of the military version of the Starlink network in Ukraine, generating criticism in Europe and Kyiv.
