A Premier League continues to rumble and this Sunday there have been further changes in the top5 due to Liverpool and Chelsea results, with distinct outcomes. The reds went to the Crystal Palace stronghold to return to victories (3-1) and ward off the crisis scenario, while the blues fell before Sunderland (0-1).
The game movie at Selhurst Park..
After losing in the previous round in front of the Arsenal, and having gone through a new European disagreement against Fenerbahçe, Liverpool needed to give a full response this afternoon and ended up doing so in Selhurst Park.
Despite the balance recorded in the first part, with opportunities for both sides, it was the visitors who began to win at 40 minutes with a goal by Alexis Mac Allister. Following an indirect free, beaten by Dominik Szoboszlai, the Argentine international appeared to divert the ball to the bottom of the nets with a head blow.
Liverpool was therefore more comfortable at the meeting and the second goal would eventually appear less than 10 minutes after the start of the second part. This time it was the German Florian Wirtz (54′) who entered the name on the list of service markers, after assistance from Bradley Barcola.
The second 45 minutes even counted with the highest ascent on the part of Crystal Palace, which was forced to run after the loss, but the reds managed to reach the third goal, through Isak (89′) and leave Selhurst Park with a triumph that allowed them to jump to the fourth place of the qualifying table, where they now live with 18 points, taking advantage of Chelsea's fall.
Note, also, for the attempt of honour of the eagles, pointed by Nketiah already in period of discounts, in the collection of a penalti.
...and home win at the Stadium of Light
The London blues lost points again, as had happened two rounds before, before Tottenham. This Sunday was Sunderland the name of Xabi Alonso's nightmare team, with a single goal dictating the match's outcome.
At 36 minutes, and in the conversion of a great penalty, behold, Enzo Le Fee did not forgive and opened the scorer's accounts before the delirium of the householders.
With the Portuguese Pedro Neto, lining up at first, and Geovany Quenda, entering the final line of the meeting, Chelsea was unable to turn the text around and even consented to the fourth defeat in 11 days.
The blues fell to fifth place, continuing with the same 16 points, the same as Everton, which is sixth ranked.
Brighton takes advantage of the City slide
Another of the great winners of this Sunday afternoon was Brighton, who jumped to second place, making the best of Manchester City's third consecutive defeat. The Maresca team was dispatched 24 hours earlier by Nottingham Forest (1-3), and saw Brighton beat Brentford (2-0) and take second position, now adding 22 points, plus one of the cityzens.
The story of the game at Amex Stadium was told in the first part, with Diego Gomez and Pascal Gross pointing out the goals of the caretakers, while Igor Thiago left visitors reduced to 10 units after receiving expulsion orders.
