A season MotoGP is in its decisive phase and this weekend (9 to 11 october), world Cup to Mandalika for the Indonesian GP.
Fight for the title
When there are six stages left to play, Jorge Martín is at the top of the championship. The Aprilia pilot attacks his second title in the Queen category and has not missed a top five in the last seven rounds – a regularity that may prove very useful to him.
Right now, spanish has only two more points than Marc Márquez (Ducati), who defends last year's conquest. The beginning of the season was shaken, but the seven times MotoGP champion won six of the last ten races and he's a strong candidate for conquest. You'll have to counter the story: since Indonesia returned to the calendar in 2023, never finished a main race there.
The master of the early phase of the time, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), is in third place and, despite the series of recent podiums, is increasingly far from the possibility of discussing the title: it has less 47 points than Marc Márquez immediately ahead of it.
Pedro Acosta pursues top three, but is not alone
In fourth in the championship follows Pedro Acosta (KTM), whose 90 points away for Jorge Martín make the title virtually impossible. But the podium of the championship is well within reach of Spanish (at 41 points).
The same can be said of Ai Ogura (Trackhouse/Aprilia), fifth with six points less than Acosta and seven more points than Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46/Ducati).
It should be noted that, last year, Fermín Aldeguer was the winner of the Indonesian GP, obtaining at the time his first MotoGP triumph. Gresini's young man has not yet repeated his work in 2026, now having a new opportunity to do so when he is tenth in the World Cup.
The city layout that (yet) is not
Mandalika's track claims to be a city girl, although it was built as a racetrack with wide escapes and did not build around. However, there is the possibility of using some sections as public roads in the future as Mandalika resort grows.
Located in Lombok, it has 11 curves and a turn extends for 4.3 km. The absolute record lap was established last year by Marco Bezzecchi in 1m28,832 seconds, although the best race lap belonged to Fermín Aldeguer (1m30,499 seconds) also dating back to 2025.
