O pS leader today considered that “finally the Prime Minister acknowledged” that the housing crisis “cannot have a police solution” but political, pointing out as decisive the role of the President of the Republic to unlock the dialogue.
“Better late than never. Finally, the Prime Minister acknowledged that the crisis we are experiencing cannot have a police solution, because it is not a police solution that allows us to respond to the cost of housing and also the cost of living that the Portuguese are facing,” José Luís Carneiro told journalists after the statement to the country of Luís Montenegro about the housing crisis.
As “the solution is political”, the PS leader acknowledged “the importance of the phone call” that the Prime Minister made to him today with a view to a working meeting next Thursday – there will be another one with the Aquira –, advancing that he will take the proposals that “consist of his program for housing” and insist on the measures he has presented.
“The role of the President of the Republic, from my point of view and the interpretation of developments, was a decisive role in how it was possible today to unlock constructive dialogue and to respond to people’s needs,” he said.
