A new NBA season started on Tuesday night at the Little Caesars Arena, home of the Detroit Pistons, and soon with the visit of the Boston Celtics, of Nehemiah Queta, in a game that ended with the defeat of visitors by 113-121 (28-27, 30-18, 30-37 and 25-39)
In the clash that put the first two of the Conference face to face This one last time, Nehemiah Queta had a rather discreet display. The Portuguese international began the duel in the bank and stayed for three points – with a field pitch marked, in three attempts, and one in two in free throws -, four caveats, two assists, two throw disarms and a ball robbery, in 21.46 minutes.
Queta was one of the players who had the most titles in the past – it began at 75 out of the 76 meetings in which he participated in the regular phase – but in this game it was only the fifth with the most time of use, but starting at the bank, to the detriment of the Mitchell Robinson reinforcement (ex-New York Knicks).
With the former Benfica in the field, the Celtics even scored seven more points than the Pistons, but in the end the victory fell to the side of the house team thanks to a large second (76-55, after 45-58), with emphasis on the partial of 23-0, which passed the result from 89-99 to 112-99, with 3.33 minutes to play.
On the side of the Pistons, the highlight goes to the 22 points and nine points of Jalen Duren, Duncan Robinson's 21 points, including five triples, Cade Cunningham's 20s and the 19 of Joker Javonte Green, which also hit five three-point releases.
For his part, the summer reinforcement Paul George, who arrived from the Philadelphia 76ers involved in Jaylen Brown's transfer, made history by becoming the best ever marker of a Celtics player in the debut, with 38 points.
Starting season six in the NBA, Nehemiah Queta renewed last summer for four years with the Celtics, until 2030/31, for $56 million (about €49 million). Portuguese was chosen by the Sacramento Kings in the 39th position of the 2021 NBA draft, having become the first Portuguese to play in the competition. He stays the only one.
