Aleta flop? That is what many Benfica fans may be thinking after the news that Jakub Kaminski may be leaving Benfica, just three months after he was hired to the Cologne for 17 million euros.

The German sports press has advanced this week that the Cologne will be considering getting Benfica back to Jakub Kaminski in January, in a loan transfer, thus putting the future of the Polish extreme in the Light in doubt.

Why, is Kaminski really standing outside Benfica, just three months after being one of Marco Silva's first reinforcements? Or is Cologne just trying to take advantage of a smaller use to try to recover one of the most important players of the transatlantic season? O Sports to Minute analyzes the pros and cons of this rumor.

Why can it happen?

First of all, any player always has the most uncertain future from the moment he is not seen as a key piece in his club. It is the case of Kaminski, who is far from being an indisputable to Marco Silva.

The Polish international has even started the new season as a Benfica holder, lining up in the first two games, both in front of St. Gallen, but only appeared in the eleven of the eagles almost two months later.

At the time, it is worth remembering, Benfica was still ‘half gas’ due to the absence of the players who were in the World Cup2026, but the loss of minutes was not only due to this. The less-achieved exhibits soon came to be the target of fans' criticisms and Kaminski also did not convince Marco Silva, who was choosing other options in the vast majority of games.

The high investment made by Benfica is also a factor to take into account, so a possible proposal by the player will naturally be analyzed by the incarnated SAD.

Why can't it happen?

It is true that Kaminski seemed, at one point, to be ‘risked’ by Marco Silva, but the visit to AC Milan, in the Europa League, on the eve of confronting FC Porto, in the Classic, paved the way for Kaminski’s rebirth.

The Polish extreme was one of the bets on the Benfica revolution in San Siro and corresponded in the best way, marking the second goal that would confirm the triumph of the eagles in Milan. Beyond the goal, Kaminski signed a very positive exhibition, leaving the fans more confident that it can in fact be useful for a long-awaited time. Marco Silva also praised him, saying he had important characteristics for Benfica.

“Great tactical game on his part. It's a wing that has the ability to then close at five if we need to close at five. Possibly, in our squad, it's the wing with the most ability to do so. I'm happy for him, because it's been a walking start at a Benfica-sized club, which isn't always easy either. And I'm happy for him because he did a great job. He's been working. Sometimes things didn't go so well. He has high-level players also fighting for space with him. But the reality is, when the opportunity comes, and it comes to him, he has to do what he did today. It was decisive. He helped the team with and without ball and ended up making a goal in an excellent finish ", said Benfica technician.

Although he did not deserve minutes in the Dragon, Kaminski seemed to gain again space in Marco Silva's options and may have changed a course that already pointed to failure. Still, it is worth mentioning that he recently contracted an injury at the service of the selection of Poland which may once again be a hard setback in his affirmation in the Light.

Every week Sports to Minute presents a new edition of the heading ‘The rumor of the week’, which aims to analyze, in detail, the circumstances surrounding the most popular business in the transfer market.
