Eight minors
A Spanish National Police arrested eight minors who participated tonight in Palma in the demonstration called by the group Blocus Mallorca, which ended up in verbal clashes and attempts at violence between extreme-right, camped and teenagers.
Seven of the minors were taken to the police station after it was verified that they had dangerous objects, such as fake weapons and corrosive liquids, and one eighth, unstoppable for being less than 14 years old, was restrained and arrested after throwing a bottle against the police cordon placed among those camped in the Spanish square and groups of adults with alleged links to the far right.
Around them, hundreds of young people and adolescents gathered from 8:00 p.m., half an hour after the call on the social networks of Blocus Mallorca, a group of people who were inspired by the student protests of France, but with diffuse claims of justice and equity.
The first clashes occurred when a group of about twenty men, identified by the left-wing activists of the camp as far-right, approached the tents with a challenging attitude.
In response, the campers began shouting slogans against fascism and one of them launched a banner against the rival group, which provoked a reaction that was contained by the police with anti-disturbance equipment.
The young people and teenagers who had gathered in the square began to move to the surroundings, causing the reaction of the police.
During one of these mass races, a group of young people were persecuted and threatened by about ten adults, some who appear to be far-right, who were later identified by the police.
Starting at 10:00 p.m., the concentrations dispersed, although the National Police, whose device was reinforced by the Palma Local Police, left a large group of agents in Plaza de España, with vans and anti-disturbances, to prevent further confrontations.
Since this morning, and especially from the afternoon, some shops in central Palma have closed or protected the windows with wooden panels.
The appeal of a Telegram group called Gen Z for a protest today was released on Tuesday and generated political and business reactions out of fear that there would be major disturbances and damage to the stores, which did not happen.
However, according to police sources, throughout the weekend there will be a sufficient and adequate scheme for events that may occur, given the unpredictability and diffuse character of the protest.
