Operation ‘Travel without haste’

A National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), PSP and GNR launch on Tuesday the campaign “Travel without haste” to alert drivers to the risks of speeding.

As part of the campaign, which ends on 19 October, the ANSR will carry out awareness-raising actions throughout the country, while surveillance operations will be carried out by the Public Security Police (PSP) and the Republican National Guard (GNR).

Under the motto “Travel without Press”, this campaign, which will last a week, aims to “warn drivers to the risks of excessive or inadequate speed to the conditions of the road, one of the main factors associated with severe road accident”.

In a joint communiqué, the ANSR and the security forces remember that between 2023 and 2025, accidents associated with excessive speed caused 154 deaths and 563 serious injuries (data from the ANSR).

“ These figures represent lost lives and people who have suffered serious injuries and show the consequences that may result from the adoption of an inadequate speed to existing conditions”, is mentioned in the note.

PSP, ANSR and GNR recall that “driving at adequate speed saves lives and contributes to safer traffic for all road users”.

This campaign, included in the National Supervisory Plan (NFP) of 2026, is the tenth of the 11 awareness-raising and surveillance campaigns planned for this year.
