Piers Morgan returned, at the beginning of the morning of Monday, to resort to the official account on social network X (the old Twitter), to weave harsh criticisms to Jorge Jesus, in response to the explanations given, on the eve, for the abandonment of Cristiano Ronaldo of the main selection of Portugal, in the press conference that followed the victory over Norway, by 2-1.
“ This guy is the Portuguese Ten Hag... He wants to build a great name for himself as a big boy by trying to humiliate Cristiano Ronaldo with a shocking disrespect. I will deal with him (from a very well-informed perspective) on tonight’s episode of ‘Football Uncensored’,” wrote the popular British journalist.
When confronted by Charlie Walsham, a pseudonym used by a former BBC television station reporter, as to the fact that he is “one of the few people left in the world who think that a player should be chosen based on reputation, rather than the current capacity,” the ‘attack’ has grown.
“ It's about respect and honesty. Nothing more, nothing less. See the ‘Football Uncensored’, later, and you will be better informed”, shot, suggesting that you may have news about the advanced Sporting degree, at a time when it is not yet certain whether it will or will not represent the team again.
Piers Morgan knows Cristiano Ronaldo
The relationship between Piers Morgan and Cristiano Ronaldo has lasted for many years, and has even resulted in some of the most revealing interviews that the Portuguese international has given throughout his career. The most ‘bombastic’ of all took place at the end of 2022, and it even triggered the termination of the contract that the latter maintained with Manchester United at the time.
At the time, the Madeiran did not spare in the criticisms woven precisely to Erik ten Hag, the then coach of the red devils, to which the journalist now compares Jorge Jesus: “He always said that I did not do the pre-season and that I should wait for my opportunity, but he did not do this procedure with all the players.”.
“ Playing three minutes after everything I've been through is unacceptable. I've regretted some things, apologized to my comrades, they know what I felt, but at the same time, I'm not sorry. I'll always be like this. I have respect for myself. Ten Hag continues to say he is counting on me and ‘bla bla bla’, but it’s all for the press”, he shot.
“ I feel like they're trying to force me out. I felt betrayed. I shouldn't say this, but I don't care. I feel betrayed. Some people don't want me here and it's not just this year, last year either. The Glazers don't care about the club, the sports side. Manchester United is a marketing club, they just want to know it,” he continued.
“ I never talked to them, they give the sports director power. The fans are always right. I love this club, but there's a lot of stuff inside the club that doesn't help to be at a top level like Manchester City, Liverpool and even Arsenal. It’s hard to see Manchester United on top in two, three years, if nothing changes,” he concluded.
