A Judiciary police arrested a man and a woman, suspected of duplicating a 90-year-old in a monetary amount of 400,000 euros.

The facts will have occurred between 2022 and this year, in the Enthroncation and in Santarém.

The suspects, 38 and 43 years old, were married, and acted in conjunction with efforts, delineating a plan to extort the elderly, especially vulnerable by reason of age.

The plan was based on alleged business, related to the purchase of cars and real estate, which would benefit the elderly, but which never came true. According to a statement from PJ, the suspects always claimed “error or mistake”.

The elderly made several bank transfers to the accounts of family members and friends of the suspects, and this money was subsequently moved to the woman's account.

The detainees already had a criminal record for several crimes.

They were present to the competent judicial authority for the application of coercion measures, subject to biweekly presentations to the local criminal police body and prohibited from contacting the victim. They're still holding their passports.
