Portuguese held in the West Bank should not arrive in Portugal until Saturday

The two Portuguese arrested by Israeli authorities in the West Bank should arrive in Portugal only on Saturday due to difficulties in returning today, an official source of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Lusa.

Otwo Portuguese arrested by Israeli authorities in the West Bank will arrive in Portugal only on Saturday due to difficulties in returning today, said an official source of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Lusa.

 

“There was a need to change the way the national citizens returned and, therefore, the journey should be made only tomorrow [saturday],” the source told Lusa, confirming that the two Portuguese will come by plane.

“ It is expected to arrive in Portugal also tomorrow [saturday]”, he added.

Both Portuguese were already visited today in Tel Aviv by the Portuguese diplomatic representation, being physically well and having accepted deportation to Portugal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had confirmed on Thursday to Lusa the arrest of the two Portuguese, one of them a journalist, in the region of Rantis, in the West Bank, an area surrounded by settlements.

“ They are fine, agreed with deportation and were not the target of any physical violence ", said the same source on Thursday night.
