Sand you miss your typical autumn rainy weather, you can start preparing your galoshes and umbrella. It is that, although next week starts with good weather, “we will have gradual change” in the middle and the next weekend will bring a “vast depression system”, warns the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to the IPMA forecast for the week from 2 to 8 November, Continental Portugal will continue, “in much of the week under the influence of hot and dry air, predicting above normal temperature values for this time of year”.
“However, during the week we will have gradual change in the time regime”, warns IPMA, in the forecast published this Friday on their social networks.
That is, the week starts with “clean skies or high nebulosity, no precipitation and east wind, generally weak, temporarily blowing moderate or strong in the highlands”. However, from the middle of the week, “there will be an increase in nebulosity, especially in the South region, and some showers may occur”.
The real fall comes next weekend, when the rain should extend to the rest of the territory.
“On the weekend, a vast Atlantic-centered depression system in the Azores region will approach the territory of the Continent and we will have the change to rainy weather”, warns the institute, to stress, still, that the temperature will remain “amen”.
As shown in the figure above, despite this change, the weekly precipitation “will be lower than the normal values for the time in the North.”.
As for temperatures, thermometers can reach at the beginning of the week at 25oC in some districts, since the maximums will be between 18 and 25oC. These values drop to between 16 and 22oC from the middle of the week.
As for the minimums, “a slight increase is expected from the middle of the week, especially in the interior and in the highlands, where minimum temperature with values of 2 to 8 will pass to values of 6 to 12 °C”.
What about this weekend?
Before that, on the weekend starting tomorrow, both Saturday and Sunday will be days of “slight cloudy or clean skies” and “weak wind in general”, according to the IPMA.
For tomorrow, a small drop in the minimum temperature is expected, more significant in the transmontano northeast and in the Alta Beira.
On Sunday, the maximum temperature should have a small rise in the coast of the North and Center regions.
Lisbon can reach 27oC tomorrow, while Setúbal, Beja and Évora reach 27oC. Faro provides a maximum of 23oC, while Porto and Bragança do not exceed 22oC.
