O president of the House of Caldas da Rainha, Vítor Marques, removed all the porours to the Councilwoman of Culture, Conceição Henriques, elected by the independent movement that leads the autarchy, without a majority.

“Governing implies making choices, evaluating, adjusting and deciding,” said the mayor, elected by the independent movement “Let’s Change” (VM), in a statement in which he claims to have removed all the porours to Councilwoman Conceição Henriques, who in the last elections ranked third on the candidate list for the House of Caldas da Rainha, in the district of Leiria.

In the statement, in which it does not clarify the reasons that led to the withdrawal of the pelouros, Vítor Marques recalls that it is up to the president “to define the organization of the team and ensure cohesive management, articulated and aligned with the strategic priorities defined for the municipality”, clarifying that it is “with this sense of responsibility” that assumes “this decision and the conduct of this new stage”.

In the text, the mayor adds that the executive has ahead of him “structural decisions, projects in implementation and commitments made with the Chaldeans that require execution capacity, stability and a common vision” and that the executive will be focused “in fulfilling the commitments made, working in an articulated manner and preparing, with stability and ambition, the future of the Caldas da Rainha”.

Lusa tried unsuccessfully to obtain further clarification from the mayor.

Told by Lusa, Conceição Henriques confirmed today that the withdrawal of pelouros was “a unilateral decision” by Vítor Marques and referred to the executive meeting, which will take place next Monday, “a clarification before the whole ceremony”.

Conceição Henriques had attributed the pelouros of Education, Social Action, Culture, Tourism and Communication of the municipality.

Until April of this year, she was also a Councilwoman for Youth and Human Resources, for whom Vítor Marques understood to take over, being at the time “a consensus decision”, Conceição Henriques explained.

The councilwoman also pointed out that she will remain in the position for which she was elected, without attributed pelouros and “as independent, not aligned”.

The House of Caldas da Rainha, in the district of Leiria, is led by the independent movement “Let’s Change”, which in the last local elections made an agreement with the Socialist Party and joined the candidate list elements of this party.

The VM elected the president and two councilors on a permanent basis (Conceição Henriques and Joaquim Beato), for the executive who also integrates three councilors of the PSD and one of the Enough.
