“ A reality is that you are ambiguous about violence because violence is part of your political project to launch the country into chaos between now and the presidential elections,” Lecornu said.

The Prime Minister answered during the session of questions to the Government in the National Assembly to the chairman of the parliamentary group of Insubmissive France (LFI, radical left), Mathilde Panot, who had harshly criticized the executive.

“ Lying about the government's intentions will not save you electorally. To sow chaos, as they have done since the beginning of the student movement, is a scandal ", said Lecornu.

The statements arise in the context of the secondary school blockade movement in France and a few months from the presidential elections scheduled for April and May.

The student demonstrations in France began on 21 September, with the blockade of a high school in Créteil, on the outskirts of Paris, in protest against the lack of teachers and media in schools, then extending to other regions of the country.

Students demand better teaching conditions, more resources, renovation of degraded school buildings and also contest the Parcoursup system of access to higher education.

The movement, which meanwhile received the support of teachers' unions and student organizations, has been marked by clashes between demonstrators and police forces, arrests and damage in various establishments.
