O ruler, who spoke in the Parliamentary Committee on State Reform and Local Power, in the framework of his regimental hearing, also ensured that all the difficulties were identified and that these “will not be repeated next year”.
“The Ministry of Education has carried out a very successful reform, with clear efficiency gains, which is being monitored by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development),” Gonçalo Matias said.
Still in the Ministry of Education, the ruler said that the new criminal record verification system allowed the identification of 60 teachers with a criminal record “who should not be teaching”.
“60 teachers who had criminal records, who should not be teaching in our schools and who were detected because this reform was made and because technology was introduced,” he said.
The minister also assured that this technology allows to save “about EUR 2 million in time that the directors had to use to check the criminal records”.
In the field of artificial intelligence (IA) Gonçalo Matias assured that, within the European gigafactory, Portugal will have “all guarantees” of data protection, including the physical separation of the state’s chips, against other machines.
“ I give you all the guarantees, we are making a strong contract, a robust contract, a contract that guarantees us, look, if you even physically want the separation of our machines from the others and guarantee that no one touches them ", said.
