Um citizen of foreign nationality, 41 years old, wanted by Interpol, was arrested on Saturday, October 3, by the Public Security Police (PSP), on arrival at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon.

The man, who was intercepted at 2:30 p.m. on the arrival of Dublin, was wanted for the alleged practice of crimes related to drug trafficking and psychotropic substances.

In a statement, the PSP explains that the suspect was arrested through the National Foreign and Border Unit (UNEF), after the PSP Border Guards detected, during the checks carried out in the border control of Terminal 1 of the Airport, that there was an international alert related to that citizen.

Under it hung an International Arrest Warrant broadcast through a Red Notice of INTERPOL.

“ After confirming the validity and applicability of the measure through international police cooperation channels, detention was carried out,” adds the PSP in a note sent today to the essays.

Then the prisoner was taken to the police premises, where “he will remain present until he is present to the competent judicial authority, for validation and maintenance of the arrest and subsequent procedures relating to the extradition process”.

The PSP concludes the note reaffirming “its commitment to the security of external borders and to the fight against cross-border crime through the detection of internationally sought persons and ongoing cooperation with international police and judicial authorities”.
