O coach Petit said today that Santa Clara is determined to continue the “good result wave” in front of Casa Pia on Saturday, on the return of the I Football League after the break for selections.
“ When you're at a good time, you want to keep going, but that's what FIFA's pause is all about. We've had these three weeks. We wanted to continue because we were at this good time, but I very much believe that this squad and this resort has character, know what we want and want to continue this good wave of results ", said.
The coach spoke at the press conference held at the Estadio de São Miguel, in Ponta Delgada, on the eve of the trip to Rio Maior, site of Casa Pia, for the meeting of the eighth day.
Santa Clara is holding the best start in the club's history championship, with four wins and three draws in seven games.
Petit highlighted that the interruption served to “strengthen behaviors of the idea of gambling” and the “relationship in the locker room”, ensuring a team determined to “follow the good start of the championship”.
“We have to be equal to ourselves,” he insisted.
The coach called for the concentration of his players and warned the quality of the Pia House, which comes from a “moralizing victory” on the last journey before Estoril (2-1).
“ It's gonna be a tough game. [The Pia House] is a quality team with good players. We want to look into every team's eyes. In strategic terms we prepare the team well for what will be a difficult game, but with the same mentality, the same attitude and the same commitment to fight for the three points”, reinforced the coach.
Santa Clara, a room with 15 points, will face Casa Pia, 17th and penultimate with four, on Saturday, at 20:30, in the Municipal Stadium of Rio Maior, with arbitration of Iancu Vasilica, of the association of Vila Real.
