O russia's government partially lifted the ban on the export of diesel to comply with the agreement reached on Friday with the United States, today revealed the Russian Council of Ministers.
“ The decision was adopted in compliance with the agreements between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the United States, Donald Trump,” the government said.
According to the Russian executive, the measure comes into force today and “will allow, at this stage, to direct to the world market 500,000 tons of diesel fuel”.
Oil companies should start hiring diesel supplies to foreign customers, in coordination with the Russian government, the government adds.
According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, the decision will not affect the interests of Russian consumers.
“In Russia, diesel is produced from Russian crude oil in national refineries. Production volumes allow us to fully supply both the internal market and the volumes specified for the global supply”, he said.
To date the ban on the export of diesel oil has been maintained: for producers, the limit was set until 31 October and for non-producers until 31 January 2027.
However, a total ban on the export of petrol remains in force until 31 January 2027.
On Friday, Trump held a telephone conversation with Putin, during which they agreed that Russia would supply gas oil to the United States and the international market.
To this end, the US government issued a temporary general permit allowing the supply of Russian diesel to the global market, temporarily suspending the sanctions imposed on Russian hydrocarbons due to the war in Ukraine.
