O manchester City coach Enzo Maresca today rejected that the titles won by the English football club are tarnished by the accusations of over 100 violations of Premier League financial rules, proving confident in the success of the show.

“Of course not. I know the effort of the players, the club and the coach of the time, Pep [Guardiola], so I have no doubt about it”, said the Italian technician, at the first press conference since the accusation – already contested by the club – was made public.

Maresca, who was accompanied by the director of communication of the ‘citizens’, Simon Heggie, instead of the usual member of the team for these occasions, avoided deepening the process, but reiterated confidence in the institution.

“ The only thing I can say is something I've already said: There's a process going on, and right now, I trust the club completely. That’s all I can say on the subject,” he added.

The coach also assured that he would have accepted the position “100%” even if the charges had been previously known, justifying the decision with the knowledge he has of the organization and the conviction that those responsible acted correctly.

“ I've known the organization for years and I know how serious they are. I know you're doing the right thing. We did not talk about it [the accusations], because I do not believe it was a problem for the club at that moment, since they acted honestly and are convinced that, in the end, we will win the resource”, pointed out, reinforcing that the club is convinced that it will win the appeal.

Maresca explained that he trusts the club because he trusts “people”.

“ That's also why I joined the club. There's no other club in the world I'd like to be in. I talked to the club, of course, and we all do. The right time to talk about this will be when we win the resource,” he explained, after questioning whether he would resign if he found out that Manchester City’s people had deceived him.

The Italian ensured that his attention is focused solely on the sports component, but acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and the repercussions of the accusations.

“ Me and the players can only control the football part. We're focused on it, we can't control anything else, we're just trying to deal with the repercussions. We understand the gravity of the situation and the uproar. We have to go to Anfield and win the game”, he concluded.

Manchester City, leader of the English League, with 15 points, visits Liverpool, sixth ranked, with nine, in play of the seventh day, on Sunday, beginning at 16:30.
