Deight British tourists, 61 and 65 years old, were injured, early in the afternoon of Wednesday, July 7, following the loss of a basket car, on the Railroad, on the Monte, island of Madeira.
According to Journal of Madeiraboth victims suffered serious injuries.
The man had an exposed fracture to his arm. The woman had her forehead sunk, suspected of head trauma, and body abrasions.
According to the same publication, the accident alert was issued at 12:25 p.m.
The wounded were assisted by the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters and transported to the emergency department of the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça, where they ended up hospitalized.
