Vitor Pereira granted, this Wednesday, an extensive interview with British radio talkSPORT, in which he made clear the intention of returning to active, in the Premier League, roughly four months after he abandoned technical command of Nottingham Forest, a club that he saved from the promotion to the Championship.

The Portuguese coach has been associated, with particular insistence, to the technical command of Fulham, due to the growing ‘wave’ of contestation around the Spanish Álvaro Arbeloa (which, remember, was hired to face the departure of Marco Silva to Benfica), and, not to mention in concrete destinations, ‘stook his eye’ to English football.

“The Premier League is my focus, and I’m preparing as best I can to get back, because that’s where I want to be. That is where I feel challenged and motivated, and I am waiting for the opportunity to return”, he began by saying, before ‘lifting the veil’ about what he has been doing, in this time of lawns.

“ Being absent from football, I had the opportunity to spend time with my family and recharge. I came out a little of the bubble, the football bubble. I enjoyed my city, saw my friends, traveled and took advantage of the opportunity to hang up for a while”, pointed the 58-year-old helmsman.

“I went back to studying the game, watching games and analyzing English football, which is the most exciting football, so I have been following the Premier League closely, keeping an eye on the teams and trying to understand current trends regarding the way they play,” he added.

“I look at myself as an experienced coach”

In this interview, Vítor Pereira also spent the ‘clean’ coaching career, so far: “Finally, I look at myself as an experienced coach, with experience gained throughout different championships and contexts. I feel I have the ability and the tactical flexibility to adapt to the quality of the players I find when I come to a club.”.

“ I try to understand their qualities and characteristics, what they feel most comfortable to do, and then build a game style that is high quality and tactically consistent, based on what I find. Then it has to do with building trust, making them believe what we are doing and what we are building together, and feeling that we are creating something solid and strong as a group”, he reflected.

“I seek to unite everyone in the club, by giving them responsibility and believing them, so that they truly feel that they are important for the project and for what we are building. It is also important to unite the fans, making them enthusiastic, with good football, the one where you really feel that the players are playing with a great spirit ", continued.

“ That's what I did in my two experiments at Wolverhampton and Nottingham Forest. Both times, we arrived at these clubs, we achieved results and achieved our goals, while we practiced good football ", concluded.
