Nthe launch of the meeting, Severino, who debuts as the main coach, after about a decade as a deputy of Luís Castro, highlighted the importance of continuing the work developed, seeking to “take on everything” that they have already done well and “try to optimize already from what is the next game”.
“What I would like to happen in the game is to maintain the identity, value the game and maximize our strengths, with an associative game, trying to block what are the strengths of the opponent”, anticipated the technician, who replaced Vasco Seabra, hired by Rio Ave.
Vítor Severino expects a “good game, above all”, in which players take “pleasure from what the game is”.
The coach defended a sustained evolution, without profound changes only to avenge the arrival of a new technical team: “We against us always”, defined Severino, as the intended approach for the future, in a logic of continuous improvement.
About the Amadora Star, he anticipated an opponent with a well-defined identity, aggressive in offensive and defensive moments, strong in pressure and able to explore the lateral corridors and depth.
“ It is a team that also values the game, extremely aggressive, a team that presses a lot ", observed.
The technician considered that Arouca must be prepared to face different approaches of the opponent, without compromising the collective identity.
“ When there is space, attack spaces. When there is no space, build space”, he explained, pointing the possession of ball and aggression without it as fundamental principles of his idea of play.
The coach also assumed to be “extremely motivated” to start the course as the main technician, after several years of experience in different competitive contexts, and highlighted the welcoming in the club and the professional quality of the working group.
Puche, recovering from injury, is the only unavailable player on the squad.
The Arouca, fifth ranked, with 11 points, receives the Estrela da Amadora, ninth, with 10, on Sunday, at 20:30, at the Arouca Municipal Stadium, at a meeting that will be arbitrated by Luís Filipe, of the Lisbon association.
