Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed that the next generation of brand consoles will consist of a “family of devices”, including portable consoles and possible partnerships with other manufacturers.

A responsible for Microsoft video games division, Asha Sharma, addressed the company’s employees at a meeting last Tuesday, day 6, where he spoke about the next generation of Xbox consoles – currently known as Project Helix.
Account windows Central website which, at this meeting, Sharma said that the next generation of Microsoft consoles will not be made up of just one or even two devices but a “family of devices”.
Sharma did not share details about these new devices, but hinted that some of them may be portable consoles that allow users to continue to throw even away.
“ We will move to a family of devices in the next generation”He will have said Sharma. “There is not a single device that is right for everyone. We will certainly have a great console first, but we also know that many players will be on the move.”.
In addition to advancing that the next generation of Xbox will be made up of multiple devices, the CEO also confirmed that some of them may be produced in partnership with other manufacturers, similar to what happened to Asus in the launch of the Xbox Ally ROG laptop.
“There are some things in which we are the best in the world to produce and there are other things in which we will partner. We share more as our plans develop. The operating system seems to be starting to get pretty good. We are very excited about this”, said Sharma.
These statements by Sharma appear shortly after the executive stated without a doubt that Xbox was not for sale – even if the last two generations of consoles were not particularly successful.
Was Xbox's future called into question?
“The Xbox is not for sale”, said the executive in a recent interview with The New York Times. “ We will do whatever it takes for the company to succeed, we will evaluate the right partnerships, the right business model and everything necessary for that.”.
Sharma's answer arises after the the Information website share rumors that Microsoft's CEO and CFO, Satya Nadella and Amy Hood (respectively), even considered selling the video game division. However, it seems that Sharma's plan to restructure and give Xbox a new direction has been accepted by the board – which will result in further redundancies.
As announced by Asha Sharma herself in June this year, the company will fire up to 3,200 people during this fiscal year, which will end at the end of the first half of 2027.
