A olympic champion Zheng Qinwen won the Beijing tournament today, his first WTA 1,000 title, defeating Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva in two sets.

Currently ‘baked’ in the 54th place in the ranking, the Chinese made history today by becoming the first local tennis player to win the Beijing tournament, thanks to a triumph before the fifth world player, for 7-5 and 6-4, in an hour and 42 minutes.

This is the first title in the category WTA 1000 of Zheng Qinwen, which adds four other titles besides the Olympic gold in Paris2024.

Finalist of the Australian Open and the WTA Finals in 2024, the 24-year-old Chinese woman won the first title in two years, contrary to the favoritism of Andreeva, champion of Roland Garros.

The 19-year-old Russian was looking for the seventh career title in the third end of the year.
