Zinédine Zidane broke, at the end of the morning of this Sunday, the silence regarding the controversy around Cristiano Ronaldo, who, in the middle of the week, chose to abandon the stage of the main selection of Portugal, on the eve of the victory over Denmark, in Parken, Copenhagen, by 2-4, in disagreement with Jorge Jesus.

Urgent to comment on the case, at the traditional press conference forecasting the meeting of the fourth round of the League of Nations group phase, before Belgium (which has an initial whistle scheduled for 7:45 p.m., time for Continental Portugal, Monday, at the Stade de France), the French selector preferred to exalt the legacy of Al Nassr's advance.

“ I think we should actually welcome your great career. What he did was exceptional. I had the joy of having him with me. He helped me win incredible titles, so I take my hat off to Cristiano. I always had great respect, in general, for all the players, but especially for those with whom I worked, particularly Cristiano, who helped us win many things”, he said.

Zinédine Zidane, remember, guided Cristiano Ronaldo in the first passage by the technical command of Real Madrid, between 2016 and 2018. Under his orders, the Portuguese international team added 112 goals and 26 assists to 114 official games, contributing to the conquest of three Champions Leagues, two European Super Cups, two Club World Championships, one La Liga and one Spanish Super Cup.

Jorge Jesus promises explanations..

On the eve, at the launch of Portugal-Norway, Jorge Jesus refused to extend, for the time being, in explanations regarding this dossier: “The focus must be national selection, Norway, what we want to do well, that our people be in tune with the flag and the goal. Now, that doesn't mean ignoring Cris. It is a symbol of selection, that it is clear, after the game, there is a long time to talk about it”.

“ The hardest thing in a coach's career is always to solve and try that when he doesn't win, find ways that victory is always close, game after game. As much as I can say that the victory in Denmark filled me with pride, so what the players did, I can also say that when it was over, I was super happy, but I could be happier”, he added.

...and Cristiano Ronaldo too

Cristiano Ronaldo, for his part, also committed himself to explaining exactly what led to this outcome, soon, in a publication on social networks: “After the national selector’s press conference, and following a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I decided to leave the internship of the national team.”.

“ In time, I will tell all the Portuguese the truth about the reasons why I left the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself. Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and all my teammates, without exception ", completed the footballer graduated in Sporting.
