Plink minus 20 bodies were recovered at Lompul beach, in the department of Kébémer, in the north of Senegal, a day after a vessel had stranded off the Senegalese coast, the state news agency APS reported.
According to the first information, the bodies were located on Saturday by local authorities in the coastal zone of Tébène.
Military personnel from the Army and Fire Department were deployed to the area to coordinate the recovery and transport operations of the bodies to forensic facilities, with a view to identifying the victims.
For the time being, the authorities have not yet determined the causes of this or the total number of occupants travelling on board the vessel, although the investigations indicate that the incident is added to the series of tragedies recorded on irregular maritime migration routes on the Atlantic coast of Senegal.
