Sergio Godinho also resorted to social networks to publicly say goodbye to the great friend Jorge Palma, who died on Monday night, September 21, at the age of 76.
In an emotional message he wrote on his Instagram page, Sérgio Godinho mentioned the “overtaken limits” by Jorge Palma and confessed that he “did not think to write words of longing so soon”.
“Jorge, my friend. I did not think to write to you these words of longing so soon – although I knew of the evils that robbed you, for a while”, he started writing.
“ You'd call me, tell me without pretending. Moreover, he knew you strong and tenacious (Tim also used this word), and deep down we always found the body capable of supplanting all vicissitudes. Until a moment in (as I say in The Fugitive) when "the heart cannot stand, neither can the head. Why are you trying to cross its limits?». You've often crossed your limits, you know. But it was your way of living, and also your way of giving yourself to others – and to yourself”, he also recalled.
“Look, today I have spent many grateful words talking about you, about our huge old friendship, about the musician you always were. And I also used your own words, especially those that impel us to do more and better: “As long as there is a road to walk, we will continue”. What better stimulus can there be for our lives?”, he said later.
“Thank you, Jorge, I am with you and yours. We will continue”, completed Sérgio Godinho, having added to his message a photograph of both.
Remember that Jorge Palma’s wake is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, in the Voice of the Workers, in Lisbon, between 3:00 and 10:00 p.m., “so that everyone can say goodbye and pay one last tribute”, as the family announced.
On Thursday, the funeral procession leaves the Voice of the Worker at 3:00 p.m., towards the cemetery of the Upper São João, where the cremation will take place, “strictly reserved for family and close friends”.
