Dand according to Rogério Silva, from Fiequimetal (Interunion Federation of Metallurgical Industries, Chemicals, Electrics, Pharmaceuticals, Cellulose, Paper, Graphics, Press, Energy and Mines), the membership is total.

“Accession is 100%, there is no tank to be supplied. The second shift began at 9 a.m. and 100% adherence was maintained. What is being debited to the network is the normal weekend supply because minimum services are being respected,” Lusa said.

REN workers Atlantic began at 00:00 today a strike until Tuesday, demanding a pre-reform that compensates for the wear and tear of shift work.

The halt was called by the SITE Sul and the Fiequimetal and is part of a claim process that, according to a communiqué of the trade union structure, has been dragging on since 2012.

Lusa tried to get a reaction to the REN's adherence to the strike unsuccessfully so far.

Among the claims is access to pre-reform under conditions similar to those foreseen for workers covered by ACT 2000, as well as the correction of wage inequalities between workers who perform the same functions.

The Fiequimetal mentioned, before the start of the strike, that most REN workers Atlantic currently has an average of 20 years of shift work, a situation that justifies, from the trade union perspective, the creation of a medium-term pre-reform plan.

The trade union structure also warned that, without changes to the current conditions, a worker of this facility would have to remain another 26 years and nine months in active and shifting, which, added to the 20 years already worked on average, would represent a total of 46 years and nine months in this regime.

Fiequimetal argued that the administration of REN should create a pre-reform plan for shift workers at the LNG terminal, considering that the facility has a strategic role in the security of the country’s energy supply.

The trade union structure also maintained that REN has economic and financial conditions to meet the demands of the workers.
