A administrator of Boavista’s insolvency, Clarisse Barros, said today that it is not “acceptable” to seek to divert to the judicial manager a responsibility that belongs to those who exercise management functions” of the axadrezado emblem.
The position arises in response to the recent statements of the club president, Rui Garrido Pereira, who, in statements to the newspaper The game came to express conviction that the closure of Boavista, scheduled for the end of October, can be reversed, questioning hard the role of the judicial officer.
In a communication sent to the president of the club’s management, Rui Garrido Pereira, and sent to Lusa, the person in charge expressed “deep sadness” and “unequivocal displeasure” in the face of recent public statements by the leader regarding the insolvency process.
Clarisse Barros sees that it cannot be held responsible for “the management options, strategic decisions or the (in)ability of the management to ensure the financial sustainability of the club”.
The person responsible regrets and repudiates the words that the President allegedly uttered, namely the statement that “the insolvency administrator’s action is not understood”.
The administrator recalls that her duties are strictly derived from the law and decisions of the court and creditors, pointing out that “the responsibility for presenting credible solutions, for their viability and for obtaining the means necessary to achieve the objectives announced cannot be confused with the responsibility of those accompanying and acting in the context of insolvency proceedings”.
In the same document, Clarisse Barros recalls that, in the meeting of creditors held on October 7, the recovery plan was rejected by the majority of creditors and it was decided that the proceedings would proceed with the liquidation of the asset.
Although the closure of the insolvent was delayed for the next day 31 October 2026 at the request of the insolvent, the administrator regrets that the public interventions of the management have omitted this deadline, at the risk of inducing the associates and public opinion in error.
The responsible clarifies that the disclosure of the minutes with directors, coordinators and athletes had only the purpose of cautioning those involved in the real possibility of closure of the activity.
“ The club’s situation is too serious for institutional communication to become an instrument for transferring responsibilities or building narratives that do not correspond to the reality of the facts, which I do not tolerate at all”, reads in missive.
On the occasion of the last meeting of creditors, the chairman of the Board assured Lusa, in statements, to be committed to negotiating with the creditor entities in order to present a new viable plan by the end of the month.
Rui Garrido Pereira also assured that the club remains “in activity, according to what has been happening since the reopening of the club’s activity”.
The administrator also left harsh criticism of a recent procedure related to the Boavista brand FC, classifying it as “at least reprehensible” and indicating that it is being properly evaluated to determine whether it is an attempt to impoverish the insolvent mass.
The association Black Panthers denounced, on October 10, an alleged attempt to misappropriate the brand “Boavista Futebol Clube” by the club president, Rui Garrido Pereira, and the deputy president, Reinaldo Ferreira, through the registration of the designation on behalf of private company Boavista Global, Lda.
The cheerleader accused the board of endangering the heritage and symbols of the institution.
In a statement signed by the president of the association, Nuno Fonseca, the group revealed that it sent an urgent statement to the judicial administrator, Clarisse Barros, requesting the adoption of all precautionary measures and formal opposition to prevent the granting of registration to Boavista Global, Lda.
The association also requested the addition of the complaint to the insolvency proceedings and immediate criminal participation with the Public Prosecutor, with a view to the criminal and civil liability of the leaders concerned.
The club had approved its liquidation in September 2025, after presenting debts of more than EUR 150 million, but the court subsequently authorised the continuation of the activity by fulfilling financial conditions.
