There goes four. Carlos Carvalhal is the latest ‘psychological whipping’

O coach Carlos Carvalhal today starred in the fourth 'psychological whipping' of edition 2026/27 of the I Liga Portuguesa de futobol, after the elimination of the Famalicão da Taça de Portugal, following the defeat by 1-0 against the Paredes.

The defeat of Sunday, against the whole of the third echelon, dictated the end of the passage of Carvalhal by the Famalicão, which had taken place at the beginning of this season, succeeding Hugo Oliveira, however transferred to the French from Strasbourg.

In the championship, the Famalicão ranks 13th, with a win, four draws and three losses, finding three points above the demotion zone, in a season start below the ambitions of the club, which, at the time, ended in fifth place.

The departure of Carvalhal, 60 years old, succeeds that of Vasco Matos, who left Estoril Praia after the eighth day, at a time when the ‘canarinhos’ occupy the last place, without any victory, with two draws and six defeats.

Before, the Greek Sotiris Silaidopoulos had been removed from the technical command of the Ave River, after adding a triumph in the first seven journeys, leaving the village-condense team in the 16th place, having been surrendered by Vasco Seabra, who left the technical command of the Arouca to head the Vila do Conde.

The first coach to leave in this edition of the I League was João Gião, who left the National after the fourth day, when the Madeirans occupied the ninth place, with four points. Bruno Abreu also advised the islanders on an interim visit to Sporting, before Alexandre Santos took over the technical command from the sixth round.
