O english international Andy Carroll confessed this Sunday that Kevin Adams was the man responsible for the sexual abuse he was victim of in 2021. An episode that he himself only recently made public in his latest autobiography entitled “Andy Carroll. Owner It: In My Own Words”.

“ Now that Kevin Adams has been identified in the court documents as my abuser, I can confirm. I hope you can finally start putting this chapter behind you. All I ask is that people do not constantly share photos of my abuser next to me”, he began by affirming.

“ I don't want to keep seeing his face or being reminded of him whenever this story is told. I'm prepared to move on. This had a devastating impact on my life and on that of my loved ones,” said 37-year-old player in statements to the British newspaper The Sun.

Kevin Adams ‘jumped to the spotlight’ in 2002 when he was invited by BBC television station to attend the ‘Fame Academy’ program as a dance instructor. More recently, in 2021, the same medium gave it the same role, this time, in the reality show ‘Strickly – It Takes Two’.

Later, in November 2023, he was sentenced to an effective prison sentence of 2023, after being found guilty of sexually abusing Andy Carroll, who was sleeping naked when the celebrity harassed him. The advance woke him up and drove him away, leaving him unconscious, and he claimed he had been attacked for no reason.

Andy Carroll's testimony

Born in Gateshead, Andy Carroll completed training at Newcastle, and had the biggest career challenge in January 2011, when he was bought by Liverpool for more than 40 million euros, in the clear purpose of ‘forgetting’ Fernando Torres' departure to Chelsea. However, the experience did not go as either party expected.

So that only half a year later it was loaned to West Ham and consequently sold for less than EUR 20 million. From then on, there were passages through Newcastle, Reading, West Bromwich Albion, Amien SC, Bordeaux and, more recently, Dagenham & Redbridge, a club of the lower echelons of English football of which it is co-owner.

It was in this last chapter that he decided to make the case public: “I was sexually abused. Okay, I said it. It's scary to even think about it, and only a few people knew about it until now. Lou and I [Teasdale, his girlfriend] spent a lot of time discussing whether or not we should mention him in this book.”.

“ I avoided my publisher for so long that they probably suspected that I had repented. It's scary to talk about this, but it made me the person I am today as much as the good things. And if the fact that I talk about it helps only one person, then, all right, it will have been worth it”, he wrote.

“ What happened to me affected every facet of my life. I thought about it every day, making it hard for me to focus on something else, including football... The trauma of what happened to me did not disappear ", completed.
