Angola wins Malawi and rises to the second in qualification for CAN2027

Today, the Angolan football team won Malawi 3–1 in Luanda on the second day of Group B of the African Nations Cup (CAN) qualification in 2027, and rose to second place.

Malawi has already reduced the discounts of the first part to 45+2, through a self-wind of Kialonda Gaspar, but Miro has established the final result at 70, ensuring Angola's first victory in the qualifying phase.

On the first journey, Angola, guided by Senegalese technician Aliou Cissé, had tied 0-0 with Egypt.

On the Angolan side, Jonathan Buatu of Gil Vicente, and David Carmo of Olympiacos and former FC Porto and Sporting of Braga, held the 90 minutes. Pedro Bondo, from Famalicão, also began the meeting, having been replaced at 84.

At the other meeting of the group, held last week, Egypt took South Sudan by 5-0, and led Group B, with the same four points from Angola, while Malawi ranks third, with three, and South Sudan is last, without points.

In the group phase there are 48 teams divided into 12 groups, with the first two classified in each group ensuring a vacancy in the final phase of CAN2027, with the exception of the three groups that count on hosts, Kenya (D), Tanzania (L) and Uganda (H), which are already established.

The final phase will run from June 19 to July 17, 2027, the first time the competition will be organized in three countries.

The first qualifying journey for CAN2027 began with a ‘shoe stone’ from Cape Verde, which was defeated by the Mali selection. Angola has already held a tie against Egypt by Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.
