A 1st edition of the International Festival of Humor de Lisboa Commedia a La Carte Fest, scheduled for the 29th October to 1st November, will even take place, despite the controversy in which the promoter found herself immersed, following the wave of cancellations due to the presence of American humorist Jerry Seinfeld, who has publicly assumed his support for Israel.
“The festival will take place, with Jerry Seinfeld as the head of the poster, scheduled for November 1st, at MEO Arena, and counting the other shows from Thursday, October 28th. New updates and additions to the festival program will be announced in the coming days”, said the promoter Last Tour, in a statement released this Monday.
The entity also noted that “the ticket holders affected by specific cancellations are being contacted directly, with information on their reimbursements”, and “all other tickets remain valid”.
“MEO Commedia a La Carte Fest was born of the desire to support and promote culture, humor and the live show, a mission that continues to define its identity and purpose. We value the trust placed in this project by the public, our partners and all those who, from the first moment, contributed to its construction. [...] We look forward to receiving artists and audience and to sharing very soon more news about the festival program ", finished.
Remember that the “Tributo Pop”, which brings together Carolina Deslandes, Tatanka and Barbara Tinoco, as well as the concert of the Cuca Monga Group were the first to announce that they would not participate in the festival. Followed the comedy duo Onion Mol, composed by Eduardo Madeira and Filipe Man Fonseca, who implied that the decision had been taken in solidarity with the cause of Palestine. Also Inês Aires Pereira withdrew from the festival, having refused to “normalize genocide”. The show “The Clown Sculptor”, by actor and humorist Pedro Torchas, was also canceled.
In addition to Seinfeld, actions by Herman José, Clarice Falcão, Matilde Breyner, and the quartet of César Mourão, Vasco Palmeirim, Pedro Ribeiro and Vera Fernandes are planned, with “Bleep the Bubble”.
The shows are divided between the Colosseum of Recreios, Campo Pequeno, Cinema São Jorge and the Capitol.
The festival, created by the mood group Commedia a La Carte, is co-produced by the Last Tour and That Hug.
