A portuguese band Santamaria announced, this Wednesday, that it can reinterpret in public the themes “I know, you are” and “You can’t live without you”, following a judicial decision made on 20 July.
“ Today's a party! It is with immense joy and emotion that we realize that it was made, on 20/07/2027, a judicial decision that declared ceased the impediment that forced us not to interpret the themes in public “I know, you are” and “You cannot live without you”. Justice was done! ", celebrated the band, on social networks.
The Santamaria pointed out that, as they had already explained to the fans, “the subject was being dealt with in its own instances, and it was there, with determination, truth and serenity, that it was resolved.”.
“We never doubted. This decision confirms what we have always believed, that it is always worth defending what is fair. Always”, added.
And they shot: “To all of you who have accompanied us in this period with an understanding and affection that we will never forget, our deepest and most heartfelt thanks. In the most difficult moments, it was your strength that kept us up. This victory is as much ours as yours. “I know, you are” and “You can’t live without you” come back to everyone, as they always were. And we can't wait to sing them with you, full of lungs, right now at the next concert! Thank you for never, never having stopped being on our side.”
Later, the Santamaria reinforced, in a live broadcast, to be “very, but very happy” with the outcome of the dispute that affected both topics.
“Malta, today will be the first of many. This return has a taste, as you know, even more special”, said Filipa Lemos, calling for fans to join the group, in Águeda, at 10pm, “to break the whole dish”.
Remember, last month, the band was booed for not singing “I know, you are”, during a concert at the Santos Populares camp in Campo Pequeno, Lisbon. At the time, the group realized that it was prevented from playing the song for reasons that were not “immutable”, but that they were “being treated, with all determination, in their own instances”.
“ We know what this song means to all of you. It represents the same to us. We understand your frustration, because it is also ours. ‘I know, you are’ is part of our history and yours, and it is with you that it has come to life over all these years. We are confident that this embarrassment will be overcome quickly and that very soon we will return to sing it together, as it has always been. Until then, we have your understanding and the affection of always ", stressed.
The singer Filipa Lemos advanced to Express that the ban had been in force in november last year, but stressed that it was “an external impediment to the band, and that it had nothing to do with plagiarism”.
