O Lidl announced this Tuesday that reduced prices of 88 food items, hygiene, beauty and cleaning, where the cuts vary between 5% and 31%, with an average drop of 16%.

“The campaign, already in force since 31 August, will extend by four weeks and applies directly to the store price“, read in a statement to which the News to Minutes he had access.

This price drop, the group explains, “has continued a broader movement: since March 2025 (covering the last two fiscal years of the insignia), more than a thousand products have seen price reductions in Lidl stores.”.

“ With the end of the holiday period, families return to the organization of purchases, meals and household budgets. Entities such as Banco de Portugal or the INE point to the consistency of the seasonality of the financial effort of families, identifying as one of the expenditure peaks the period between the end of summer and the beginning of October. Banco de Portugal’s data on consumer credit in October last year, for example, again indicated an annual increase of almost 15%”, can be read in the published note.

Lidl considers that “it is at this time of adjustment – particularly challenging to the accounts of families – that Lidl reinforces its value proposition, making dozens of items present in daily purchases more accessible”.

“ The selection covers different moments of routine, from the preparation of meals to the composition of the pantry, through personal care or the cleaning of the house ", explains.

It adds that “this measure is reflected cross-sectionally in the essential purchasing basket of families. In the area of food, the decline covers goods of first need, with reductions of up to 31% in the case of oats or 29% in the case of rice, fixing these articles in the price of EUR 0.99. Daily use products, such as butter or frozen fish, follow this structural trend with breaks above 20%. The initiative also guarantees direct relief in key categories for Portuguese homes, such as eggs, cheese, pasta and coffee”.
