A dishwasher is one of the most common equipment in kitchens. It's very handy to leave this space of the house without dirty dishes in three times. However, there are things you should not put inside. Know the pieces you should always wash by hand.

The Super Organized page revealed the parts that should not be placed in the washing machine. The best thing is to prefer the traditional method, all so as not to spoil them over time.

Dishes machine? Parts that should always wash by hand

“ Not all parts like to go to the dishwasher. There are parts that last much longer when they receive a little extra care and when they are washed by hand” they start by writing in the publication.

1- Crystal pieces

“The crystal is delicate and can lose the brightness or become opaque with the heat.”

2- Knives

“ High temperatures damage the knife wire and leave it uncut.”

3- Antique dishes of clay or handicrafts

“ The heat can cause the paint to come out, spoil the parts or make them more fragile.”

4- Parts of clay

“The heat removes the layer of protective oil and rust eventually appears.”

5- Wood parts

“ High temperatures can create holes in these parts”

6- Parts of silver

“Silver easily oxidizes and loses its glow with heat.”

7- Parts of copper or aluminium

“ These types of pieces tend to get darker and miss the original finish.”

8- Parts with non-stick material

“ The coating may lose its non-stick capacity over time.”

The part of the dishwasher that was supposed to clean every week

You feel like your dishwasher doesn't make everything as impeccable as before? The truth is, you may be in some kind of trouble, and it's best to avoid them. There's a piece you should be cleaning every week to make sure it works properly.

The Kitchn website spoke to an expert to understand what you have to do with your machine at the end of the week after daily use. There's a piece that you need more attention.

“ If you use it twice a day, the service life will be much shorter. However, with good care and maintenance, it is still possible to last up to 10 years,” Dennis Godynuk says. “When performance decreases, it is almost always due to accumulating or blocking, such as a clogged filter, obstructed sprinkler arms or fat and mineral residues, and not due to mechanical wear,” he continues.

In this way, it alerts in particular to the filter that needs special attention every week. “Many dishwashers have easy to remove filters. My recommendation is to clean it every week.”

How to clean the dishwasher filter

Almost everyone includes the dishwasher in the list of most useful appliances. It is important to remember that even the most efficient machines need some cleaning and maintenance, Melissa Maker alerts, cleaning expert and founder of Clean My Space, quoted on Martha Stewart's website.

There is a part many forget when cleaning this used household appliance: the filter. Is that your case? Follow the expert's instructions to leave yours as new.

Then the list of materials includes a detergent of the quality dishes; warm water; a soft brush (can be an old toothbrush); and a microfiber cloth.

Follow the step by step:

Turn off the machine and make sure it is completely cold;
Remove the lower support from the machine to access the filter;
Remove the filter by following the machine instruction manual. You usually just have to turn it counterclockwise;
Rinse the filter with warm water to remove loose debris;
Fill the dishwasher or a bowl with warm water and a few drops of dish detergent. Leave the soak filter in the water between 10 and 15 minutes;
Rub the filter to dislodge any accumulated particles;
Rinse and make sure that all detergent and debris are removed;
Wipe the filter with a microfiber cloth;
Reinstall the filter and lower holder in the dishwasher.
It also explains that in some machines it cannot remove the filter. You can simply brush the filter in with detergent and water “before starting the cleaning cycle”.

Four mistakes that almost everyone makes when cleaning the house. Experts hate it!
