A maritime passenger and car transport company in the Azores cancelled the Sunday sea trip between the islands of the triangle (Faial, Pico and São Jorge) due to adverse weather conditions.

Atlanticoline reported, in a statement published on its website, that “due to adverse weather conditions, the trip of the Green Line (Horta/Cais do Pico/Velas/Cais do Pico/Horta) scheduled for this Sunday, November 8, is cancelled”.

The company “weeps any disturbances” that cancellation may cause.

The Center for Weather Forecast and Surveillance of the Azores of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) reported that depression Bruna, which is already conditioning the state of time in the Azores, will cause “a significant increase in wind intensity from the dawn of Sunday, day 08, with bursts that may reach 90 km/h [kilometres per hour] in all groups [of islands] of the archipelago”.

The IPMA also foresees an increase in maritime agitation in the islands of the Central and Eastern groups, “with waves from the northwest that can reach six meters of significant height”.

Due to the approaching depression, the IPMA issued yellow weather warnings for precipitation in the Central (Third, São Jorge, Pico, Graciosa and Faial) and Eastern (São Miguel and Santa Maria), for maritime agitation in the Central and Eastern groups and for wind for all groups of the archipelago.

The Eastern group is under yellow warning by precipitation, sometimes strong, until 21:00 locals (one more hour in Lisbon) today, by wind (from 11:00 Sunday to 05:00 Monday) and by sea agitation (from 14:00 Sunday to 05:00 Monday).

In the Central group, the yellow warning, by precipitation, is active until 21:00 today, by wind (from 05:00 Sunday to 05:00 Monday) and by sea agitation (from 11:00 to 23:00 Sunday).

The Western group (Flores and Raven) is under yellow warning, by wind, between 05:00 and 20:00 Sunday.

The yellow warning, the least serious of a three-scale, is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather situation.
