A Judicial Police (PJ) arrested on Thursday, November 5, a man, 45 years old, suspected of trying to kill another citizen, in Póvoa de Varzim, on the afternoon of Tuesday, day 3, for “jealous”.
In a statement sent to the editorials, the Judiciary reveals that the Public Security Police (PSP) was called to the site to “respond to a road hit.”.
At the time, the suspect, who was always on site, told the authorities that everything had been nothing but an accident.
However, the report turned out to be suspicious and the investigation was delegated to the PJ, which allowed the inspectors “to gather evidence that the suspect sought and intentionally ran over the victim”, “moved by jealousy.”.
The “violent attack”, as the PJ described in the same statement, “resulted in serious physical injuries”, which “forced the amputation” of a leg.
Faced with the “proven intentionality of criminal action”, the driver was arrested and the vehicle “used for committing crime” seized.
The suspect shall now be present to the judicial authority competent for first judicial questioning and enforcement of the coercion measures taken as appropriate.
