Arussian anti-aircraft defenses have shot down at night a total of 1,015 Ukrainian drones in the skies of 15 regions of the European part of the country, Moscow announced today.
The Russian Ministry of Defense specifies in its morning announcement about the war that the main target of the attack was the capital and the second largest city in the country, St. Petersburg, which suffered some damage.
The border towns of Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk, as well as the town of Krasnodar in the south, and the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2022, were also attacked.
Moscow City Mayor Serguéi Sobianin stated that over half a thousand drones were shot down while heading to the capital of the country, so it was necessary to close the airports again, where hundreds of flights have been cancelled and delayed in recent days.
Both sides became involved in a new escalation after Russia ignored the energy truce announced by US President Donald Trump, which Kiev respected for several days.
