O former American President Barack Obama is now the main speaker in the sixth edition of the Game Changers Forum in Lisbon, when less than a month away from the U.S. mid-term elections.
During the meeting, more than 30 national and international personalities participate in debates on the worlds of politics, economy, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, ending with a dialogue with the former Democratic President.
The intervention of the 44th President of the United States (2009-2017) will be dedicated to leadership, resilience and impact, in an event open to the public.
Barack Obama's visit to Portugal takes place less than a month from the elections to the entire House of Representatives (low House of Congress) and a third of the Senate seats (high House) in the United States, scheduled for November 3.
The polls have pointed to a Democratic advantage, at a time when Republican President Donald Trump faces a strong disapproval.
Obama will join the Democratic campaign, notably on the 24th in the state of Michigan, where he will support Senate candidate Michigan Abdul El-Sayed in Detroit.
As Head of State, Obama was in Portugal in November 2010 to participate in the EU-US and NATO summits.
Obama stopped in Portugal again in November 2016 on a technical scale at the Lajes Base on Terceira Island, Azores, on a trip between Germany and Peru.
In 2018, after leaving the White House, Obama addressed, at a conference in Porto, the importance of acting on the problem of climate change for the world, one of the priorities of the Democratic's two presidential mandates.
