Oboston Celtics reached, in the early hours of Friday to Saturday, that which was the second victory after two days of the group phase of the NBA Cup's new 2026/27 sports season, this time, in the trip to the Spectrum Center, North Carolina, on the Charlotte Hornets, by 80-119.
A match that turned out to be an authentic ‘pass’ for the set oriented by Joe Mazzulla, who, at the end of the first period, already had a ten-point advantage on the marker. A ‘cushion’ that increased to 21 points, in the second, and to 29, in the third, before a more balanced room, even because there was no doubt as to who would go out on top.
Jayson Tatum was ‘intractable’, and gave the meeting closed with a record of 34 points, nine assists and eight caveats, having relied on the precious help of Derrick White, who also proved himself particularly ‘inspired’, with an exhibition that translated into 18 points, five assists and four caveats.
On the other side of the ‘barricade’, Charles Lee’s men were basing their hopes, above all, on Naz Reid, whose 14 points, six caveats and two assists were insufficient to avoid size ‘truck’. Tidjane Salaun still ‘jump’ from the bench of alternates to score 13 points, but also without great practical consequences.
The Boston Celtics have now seen all the attention to the regular season of the national basketball championship, where they have scheduled game with the Milwaukee Bucks for 1 a.m. Monday morning at the Fiserv Forum. The Charlotte Hornets, for their part, will return to acting in ‘home’, this time, against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 00:00 on Tuesday.
Nehemiasis Queta in ‘no day’
After last Tuesday, having performed the one that was the best game of the time, so far, adding 16 points, six points and one assist, in the defeat suffered before the Houston Rockets, at the Toyota Center, Nehemiah Queta signed a visit to the Charlotte Hornets, one of the least successful.
The Portuguese international was once again the holder of the Boston Celtics coach, Joe Mazzulla, but this time he went completely along with the events, not having managed to go beyond four points, three caveats and one assist, after the 15 minutes he remained on the court.
The Portuguese international, remember, arrived in the United States in 2019 to join the Utah State Aggies. The ‘jump’ for the NBA took place in 2021, when it was chosen by the Sacramento Kings in the draft. However, it did not have the intended continuity, so it followed journey to the current team in 2023.
The NBA Cup accounts
The Boston Celtics thus add two victories won in two possible, a record that keeps them in the isolated leadership of West Conference Group C, ahead of Atlanta Hawks (a triumph in one game), Washington Wizards (a triumph in two games), Chicago Bulls (a defeat in one game) and Charlotte Hornets (two defeats in two games).
