A Captaincy of Porto do Funchal today recommended to the population to avoid seaside walks and playful fishing practice, due to weather and sea conditions for the Madeira archipelago until Sunday.
In a warning issued today, based on the predictions of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the maritime authority warns of the danger of waves that can reach seemingly safe zones.
The Capitania advises the population to avoid sightseeing in areas exposed to maritime unrest, such as jets for the protection of ports, cliffs and beaches, and not to engage in playful fishing, especially by cliffs and surf zones.
The warning, valid until 18:00 on Sunday, provides waves between 1.5 and 2.5 meters on the northern coast of Madeira and between one and 1.5 meters on the south coast.
The wind should blow from south/southeast, moderate to fresh, between 20 and 39 kilometers per hour, sometimes very cool until late afternoon, decreasing intensity at the end of the period.
Visibility will be good to moderate and may become weak to bad by the end of the morning.
The maritime authority also recommends strengthening the moorings and tight surveillance of docked and docked vessels.
