A margin of a meeting with entities in the area of tourism, trade and services, in Lisbon, José Luís Carneiro said he gave “clear indications” to the parliamentary group of the PS that socialists never present “proposals that are not sustainable from a budgetary point of view”.
“This government has been an expert as a source of instability, source of uncertainty and source of irresponsibility and also in the creation of scapegoats. What I can assure the Portuguese is that all the proposals that we have submitted to this day are sustainable in the light of planned and unplanned revenues from the State”, said journalists José Luís Carneiro
The leader of the PS considered it important that the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, “was to listen to the declarations he made on VAT in 2022” and to see the proposals approved in parliament in 2009 and “in absentia”, “at a time when the country was already facing an international crisis”.
“ At the time, Dr. Luís Montenegro was the parliamentary leader of the PSD and approved 9 of 13 proposals, saying that the absolute majority came to be in parliament, but there is one thing I can tell the Portuguese: I am not the same as Dr. Luís Montenegro, I am really different from Dr. Luís Montenegro and the proposals I make are sustainable proposals from a budgetary point of view”, he said.
