O Brazil is mourning the loss of two great names of the world of representation. Shortly after the death of Laura Cardoso was announced, the news of Gloria Menezes' departure also arrived on Tuesday, August 18.
Claudia Ray was not indifferent to the two major losses, as would be expected, and resorted to her Instagram page to pay tribute to them.
In a first publication, the actress began to mention: “Today Brazil loses an extraordinary artist. Our tireless worker of art, brilliant, giant, owner of a unique talent and a presence that has always overflowed through the screen”.
“It is impossible to think about the history of our dramaturgy without thinking about Laura Cardoso. It has been decades lending body, voice, truth and humanity to so many characters and stories that have become part of our lives as well. There is no Brazilian who, at some point, has not been touched, impacted or transformed by his work. Laura has passed through generations without ever losing her strength, curiosity and love for the profession. It made the performance a lifetime of delivery ", highlighted then.
“ Today is the sadness of farewell, but above all it is an immense work. From those that do not end when an artist leaves, because they already belong to the memory and culture of a country. Thank you so much, Mrs. Laura. What a privilege it was to share this time with you and be able to witness your art,” he said, having ended with words of affection dedicated to “family, friends and everyone who was lucky enough to walk beside you.”.
Hours later, Claudia Raya went back to her Instagram page to publicly say goodbye to her fictional mother, Gloria Menezes.
“Grandma Goia. That's how Sophia and Enzo baptized you. And no one ever corrected it, because it had nothing to fix. You were”, started by writing.
“ In 1990, you were my mother in "Queen of the Scrap." And I don't think he's ever left the post completely. It was more than thirty years looking at me with that eye that saw everything, including what I wasn’t saying,” he lovingly recalled.
“You were beautiful in a way that impressed. And I had a presence that didn't slow down over time. At the age of 89, he entered my theater in a wheelchair and remained the most imposing person in the room. Then in the dressing room, he took Luca in his lap. Three generations of my family around you. This image was left in me”, he also recalled.
“You starred in the first daily novel of Brazilian television. He was in "The Promise Payer", the Brazilian film that won the Golden Palm in Cannes. You've made history so many times. I've learned a lot by watching you work. But I learned even more in the afternoons that they had nothing to do with work ", made it equally important.
“ Thank you for being my mother in fiction and staying in our family beyond her. Go find Tarcisio. He missed you already. And we will stay”, it can be read finally in the publication of Cláudia Raia, where also mentions the late husband of Gloria Menezes, Tarcisio Meira, who died in August 2021.
